Need Some Info On the Canary Islands please

Looking to go on holiday on the 1st of November and want some place sunny! Was looking at Egypt but allot of people say that it Is not best to take a 10 month old baby there.
So was thinking the canary islands are probably the best bet.

Is it good weather at this time?
Is Canary Islands best place?
What is a good island and area? (Is Fuerteventura too windy?) After a nice hotel near a town and with a nice sandy beach.

For cost wise we are thinking of going All Inclusive to keep cost down. Does this save you allot of money when eating at the local restaurant?

Cheers.

  • Your best bet is probably South Tenerife. As you have a small child you probably should steer clear of staying in central Playa de las Americas as this can get noisy and has late night partying. I would recommend Los Christianos which is quieter and a more family oriented adjoining resort with a sandy beach small harbour and shopping centre. Choice of hotel/appartment would depend largely on your budget there is a pretty good choice of 2/3 star self catering blocks. Last time we went we stayed in The Reveron which is a small block of one bed appartments about 100meters from the front and 800meters to the beach it has a small rooftop swimming pool (no shade other than umbrellas), but that block is typical of many others.

    Weather in November should be fine and it will be cheaper as it is in between seasons. It may also be worth you looking during October as you can sometimes get good deals on unusual duration holidays as the brochures change from Summer to Winter.

    Canaries is a good choice and any of the main Islands will be OK.
    If you want a more natural less artificial environment Fuerteventura is a good choice but is not the most attractive island as it is quite barren and can as you say be windy.

    I think you would pay over the odds for all inclusive and there is a lot of choice of reasonably priced resturants.

    We took our 7 month old to Tenerife last November/December. We stayed in Costa Silencio between the airport and Playas Americas. Eating out is reasonable enough.

    The main problem we found with the Canaries is the flight time - we decided 4.5 hours is too long to have a baby on your knee, our flight out took 5.5 hours due to headwinds and it was a nightmare.

    November has always been good for us in the Canaries. Gran Canaria and Tenerife are warmer. Have a look at www.canaryforum.com

    I would agree with the posters on here. I holiday twice a year in Tenerife normally in July then again in November/December 2 weeks each time but in Puerto de la Cruz. The weather in November {even in the north} is quite warm 72/75*. All inclusive I would not reccomend as you will most likely pay over the odds. travel time is not too bad {many times I have had babies on the flights with very little in the way of problems}
    The south of the Island is a bit warmer and transfers only take about 25mins from the airport. My advise would be GO AND HAVE A GREAT TIME

    November has an average temperature of 22.6°.

    I'd say that going all-inclusive is for families with older children and obviously "free" alcohol is a draw for some, although if that's your choice there are several establishments in the resorts. The freedom of self-catering, or even half board may be preferential with a 10 month old. There are plenty of good and cheap child-friendly restaurants.
