Oh, well if were moving to that level of pedantry - your chart shows it increasing from around 9.45am - 10.05am NY time which is the last point currently on the graph. Therefore, currently increasing. :)

If this happens, will the back pay me interest on my mortgage rather then me pay them interest?

There is a bank in Denmark that pays you interest for having one of their mortgage products IIRC.

Marvelous! Do you think they would provide me with a mortgage for a pied-a-terre in Knightsbridge?
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

Reminds me of the proposal that money should be radioactive.
Need special lead-lined wallets and pockets, difficult to steal, dangerous to hoard in the mattress, and everybody would be keen to spend it quickly or invest it/ store it in (presumably lead-lined) bank vaults.

If my memory serves, the Swiss franc was in negative interest toward the end of the 1980's and the Jap Yen for a spell in the early 1990's. I worked in international banking at the time and our money market traders were particularly careful to utilise our surplus nostro balances to avoid leaving money lying around. By doing this we were able to offer Swiss franc accounts in London without applying neg interest and this was a popular product.

I've just got a vague memory of the Belgian franc going into negative interest for a short term around 1991, might be completely wrong.
