Very strange.
Frankly not interested in what you think but glad you've had the chance to put your unwanted opinion across. If you don't have something helpful to contribute maybe consider not contributing next time as you just dilute the genuine help from other kind people. That said, should I ever need help managing my post in the future I'll be sure to look you up.0 -
And now you've just alienated everyone who could potentially help you.
Unwanted opinion = not something I wanted to hear.0 -
It's not all about you Cracken perhaps someone else tempted to redirect mail far too early will now learn from your mistake. Before exchange there is still every chance the whole sale will fall apart and add months to moving dates, and you absolutely can't guarantee dates for anything. There is someone else with a similar thread who booked removals and so on, holidays, etc. Now it's all gone Pete Tong.
You basically shouldn't do anything along these lines until you have exchanged.
In any case if you don't want opinions don't post on the Internet.0 -
There is, of course, an easy solution to the symptoms - lack of phone line and lack of broadband - and that's to use mobile, assuming you have a signal. A monthly-contract or PAYG data SIM isn't expensive, and just requires a USB dongle or a wireless/mobile router.
Somebody's dropped a ball at Sky, but if -as I suspect - your line's already been re-plugged at the exchange because you were on an LLU line, then there's no amount of shouting that's going to undo it. Time to look for a workaround rather than who's to blame or why.0 -

Thanks for the input. I'm not trying to alienate everyone just responding to some unhelpful and patronising feedback. You are right though - I should not waste my time and just ignore the unhelpful posts.
The good news is that thanks to the advice here I'll be back on-line at home tomorrow using the new owners connection.
We've also had good progress on legalities today so fingers crossed we'll exchange before the week is out. Like you say though, nothing is guaranteed until you have the keys in your hands.0 -

This is a reason why somebody would ask you why you've got your post redirected before exchange, even if to your in-laws.
The trouble with the internet is that people don't know your scenario like you do, just as you don't know theirs. Hence an occasionally different expectation of what is rational and normal.
That's the backdrop to a lot of feedback you get online :beer:0
