Apologies, i had posted in wrong board, but hope someone can help

Can some of you kind people help me, i have a friend who is in a bit of a mess and i am trying to help. She is with utility warehouse ( thats a nightmare in itself) but cant leave due to owing them some money. She told me her bills were very high but she has no clue about meters etc. the meter at her house was installed by Eon before she switched. She was on economy 7, then following a small fire in the box caused by faulty meter, eon came out out new meter in, but person fitting it said i dont have the right meter so i have fitted a different one. She has thought no more about it, then switched to UW, but now questioning her £150 a month electric bill. I had a look at her meter today and it is a E10 meter. My question is- could they have E7 on an E10 meter? She rang Eon to see if they could help the said they couldnt help, and UW are pretty useless too. She is in 3 bed semi with storage heating but all out during school hours TIA

Make a written complaint to the supplier and ask them to install the correct E7 meter? E10 is a good tariff for some people as you get a cheap rate afternoon boost, but the problem is that not many suppliers support it, so the tariffs do not appear on comp sites.
I suspect that what you mean by a '£150 per month bill' is simply an initial £150pm DD estimate-which says nothing about her actual usage or billing.

  • From what i can understand with UW she has to submit her readings before end of each month which then dictates how much she pays that month, and her last payment was £150. She is pretty bad at keeping track of things and i am trying to help her, but UW are not being helpful either. So its definately an E10 meter, so all her heating is all over the place . Hopefully if UW dont support E10 then she may be able to get away from them. Its a housing association home so i wonder if there may be a way of getting them to help too

Nothing to do with the HA, it's between her and the supplier. If they don't support E10 then how can she be submitting readings based on E10, which has an additional register?

From what i understand, she never realised that is was not econmy 7. There is figure for rate 1 and figure for rate 4 ,she just submitted rates presuming it was economy 7. So she needs to Go back to supplier and tell them that its an e 10 meter and they need to sort accordingly? Wonder if they will be able to get meter changed back to economy 7 ? Think she has a bit of a battle on her hands
  • Most E10 meters nowadays on have 2 rates; peak and off peak. Only the only restricted E10 meters in the Eastern region were dual MPAN with 3 rates.
