Hi All
So was doing the switch to yorkshire bank, had my two direct debits, and was tidying up the my account with a certain high street supermarket, and I accidentally cancelled my two direct debits :mad::o
I set them back up again instantly but fear as my switch completes tomorrow that it will all end up in a hideous mess
Could I switch a second account to Yorkshire bank for the bonus? I have a few going spare
Update, the DD's have switched over but they will be cancelled tomorrow I image, grrrr, should I set up new DD on the Yorkshire account
Thanks
James

Potentially, your cancellations won't take effect. The originators would already have been informed of your new account details and set up new instructions, so will likely ignore the cancellations coming from the old account (and won't be requesting any more funds from there).
How did you "set them back up again instantly"? This could be more of a problem than the cancellations.0 -
I cancelled them as the originator not as the payer if that makes sense. I cancelled as 'Don't claim these anymore' not 'don't pay these anymore'0

I setup a Yorkshire Bank account in November to get £150 cashback (I will get it in about one month).
Yorkshire Bank made it clear to me that the two direct debits transferred across must be kept active until I receive the cashback. They also said that once the switch date is set it cannot be changed.
I would give the switch team a call a.s.a.p.0 -
I did a similar thing, but just after the switch had gone through. After setting them back up again I phoned to check that I would still get the bonus. They were less than no help, but a very nice man in my local branch looked into it and made sure that I did. (As they have no customers there they are very happy to help you out).0

Thanks, I've set the direct debits up again on both the new account, and the old account which is due to be closed tomorrow as part of the switch, hoping they'll be carried over last minute, but I feel a trip into the branch on the weekend might be in order
Could I switch a second account which has the DD's and not touch it until the switch has gone through this time, or can you only switch one account0 -

Setting up new DDs to the YB account *might* work out as DDs usually take a while to disappear when an originator cancels them. As to whether replacing the DDs with others during the offer term is permitted - that isn't very clear from the terms, so I agree you should call them with some plausible reason why a direct debit of yours might change.0 -
