Parkers or Glass
Saw an ad on Autotrader, Ford Fiesta 2011 reg for £5500, 54000 miles and only 4 miles from from an independent dealer.
Checked on Parkers for valuation:
Franchised Dealer - £5390
Independent Dealer - £4895
Private Good - £4645
Based on average 50,000 miles  more than a franchised dealer.
So I check Glass:
Dealer Retail - £6230 to £7460
Private Sale - £5320-£6370
What a difference, I assume Glass is averaging 50,000 miles also.
Which is more reliable?

I am assuming you want to know what you would get if you were to sell the car. If so you might want to check webuyanycar's valuation and ebay (sold) listings0

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I am looking to buy.0

... and the same applies - check what other people are asking for similar cars.
The last three cars we've bought have been in the lowest 10% of prices across the whole of the uk on autotrader. Thats my rule of thumb when buying.0 -
The likes of Glass/Parker guides are totally useless. If they state a car is worth £5000, But there a loads on autotrader etc for £4000, who is going to buy the £5000 one?
As stated, check completed listinbg on ebay, look on autotrader at similar cars with similar miles etc, you can really narrow your search down.Plan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].
[STRIKE]Save up for that rainy day[/STRIKE].
Start enjoying a stress debt free life.....now enjoying. thanks to all on MSE0 -
Part ex I have always found glass accurate. When buying I just go for the best one available for the price.
Not sure how Parkers get their prices.
If you view a few examples of the same model for sale you get an idea of which ones you think are better vale.0 -
Glass has been around for donkeys years, and it is the book of choice for dealers.0

Indeed
Glasses Guide, CAP (Car Auction Prices) Black Book, and apparently now Autotrader are doing a trade valuation online guide are the 2 or three of choice by dealers.
Dealers dont use Parkers.0
