Recovering a sofa - likely cost?

I have a three piece Multiyork lounge suite that is in rather tired condition. I quite fancy the idea of having it recovered in a washable fabric. Has anybody done this recently and if so, what was the cost?
If it turns out to be hundreds of pounds, perhaps I'll invest in a couple of cheap cotton throws instead! Any ideas appreciated.

Paddy's Mum I have looked at this option a couple of times when what in essence is a perfectly comfortable and good condition sofa has a worn cover and looked into recovering but it always ended up with a price tag of 2 or 3 hundred pounds and I am not up to tackling that job myself so I have ended up replacing and then giving away my old furniture to needy young relatives .. I suppose its better that someone got some use out of them than pitching on the tip ... sorry to not have any better ideas...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
