Hi all,
I'm hoping if someone has the underwriters address for HSBC.
In a nut shell im challenging a overdraft decline based on past adverse credit.
I sent the letter to a Southhampton address which basically got forwarded to my branch and one of the advisers rang me back to say to come and see what they can do. Which i did and she did was check my details and hit the apply button and got a decline and said she couldn't help me. (something i already know)
I asked her for the underwritters address and she said the decision is always based on the computer and not a human, i know this to be a load of crap as previous ive had a credit card decline over turned in the past be it with another bank.
Kind Regards,

If you asked here, everyone would have told you that visits to a branch are waste of time as the staff there is powerless an incapable of doing anything if "computer says NO".
That said, I don't see any grounds for "challenging" a decline if you did have serious credit problems in the past, especially if the problems were with HSBC.
If your credit files are clean now, just apply for an account with a bank that knows nothing about your past problems.0 -
Hi had no problem with HSBC, ran account perfectly. No DD ever got missed and very rarely overdrawn.
Im keen to get the letter to write department, anyone know the address?0 -
can anyone assist with the correct address and department?
Really can do with sending this appeal off as they will no doubt take a one week or two to process.0 -
There is no appeal process for declined personal overdrafts. There is one for business overdrafts.
Also I have no details of any address for any HSBC underwriting team.
I would put in a written complaint to this address
Customer Care Team
HSBC Bank Plc, PO Box 6125,
Coventry, CV3 9GW
However if you have been declined due to a poor credit record occurring in the last 6 years then the answer you will get back is is that the overdraft was declined due to bank policy. Also in their terms and conditions it says 'overdrafts available on request subject to status'.0 -
To overturn any overdraft decline they'll need a full income/expenditure assessment from you. Send that with your appeal. Don't hold your breath, you'll have to have a very good explanation as to why they should overturn their decision. Past adverse will always be taken into account.0

cheers just sent it off.
with full income and expenditure and a letter from my employer confirm my pay and my service and a upcoming promotion. Also send them a letter from my local gym to state that ive never missed a payment along with three previous credit card statements which i pay off in full.
fingers crossed0 -
HSBC will not review your appeal. They will log it as a complaint, and call you advising their decision stands and offer to send you a bottle of wine or sweet hamper. Ultimately if you refuse, they will send you a final 'our decision stands, you have the choice of taking this to the ombudsman, good luck'.
It's their choice whether to offer you an overdraft or not. You're not entitled to one.0
