  • As a kid we went to the south of France every year as that was all we could afford. But for me and my brother and sisters it was the best holiday we have had. One of the best sites we went to was La Reserve (Gaste) (Spelling probably very wrong). Was a fairly large camp site with mobile homes. has swimming pools but the best thing is they had a massive lake which as warm and very safe. Also close to the beach. Not been for over 10 years but other friends have been recently and says it is still a very good place to go.

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks for replying, will look into camp site recommendation, thanks again

    Hi

I have been going to a campsite in the south of France for 10 years, which I would recommend to anyone.

    It doesn't have a kid's club though.

There is a swimming pool, large bar and restuarant, bakery - fresh bread every morning - and shop.

Directly opposite the entrance to the campsite is a large fun fair - Big Wheel, dodgems, all kinds of rides, candy floss etc.

And 400 yards from the campsite is Marineland - exactly the same as Seaworld in Florida. 4 killer whales, dolphins, sea lions, walruses - all performing tricks. Then beside that is an Aquasplash, Wild West show, crazy golf and a farm.

There is a train station 300 yards from the campsite. The train takes 4 mins to Antibes, 20 mins to Cannes and Nice, 40 to Monte Carlo and 1 hour 15 mins to Italy. The station is right by the sea.

The whole coast is lined with beaches, and typical French towns.

The campsite is called Camping du Pylone.

Let me know if you need any other info.
  • We went to the South of France to a campsite called Domaine de la Rive. It has mobile homes from Key Camp there was 3 swimming pools plus its own lake. It has kids club and there was lots of other things to do such as tennis, bikes to hire etc. The local beaches were good to not too far away.

I would never book a mobile home on a campsite with a company like Keycamp, Eurosites, Canvas etc.

They charge twice more than if you can find someone who owns one and you contact them privately.
  • Myself, family and friends have had several superb holidays in South of France. One site stands out above all others - La Sirene. It has a sister camp just over the road, I think it's called L'Hippocamp, which was also very good - but quite a bit smaller.La Sirene is located near Argeles sur mer - this is nearly in Spain, well about 15 miles away.Loads to do in area, alsd lots of things for kids on and around site.:j
    Waddle you do eh?

  • We've stayed at Le Vieux Port, Messanges several times booked through leisure direction. The site is huge, with lots of activities, but it's also right beside a beach that surfers use etc
