Ovo - Anyone changed tariffs?

I switched to Ovo in September and signed up for a fixed price tariff (Better Energy) with no exit penalties. I gather that customers signing up today for the same tariff are paying lower prices.

I also gather Ovo discourage tariff hopping but will allow it with loss of the online discount (to avoid losing customers to other suppliers).

Has anyone actually had experience of doing this, and if so, would you recommend it?

Consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you today. Are you able to access the CEC collective switch tariff available today?

Even if Ovo are the cheapest for you (unlikely) or you just love them so much you prefer paying extra to be supplied by them, then consider switching to another supplier first (no exit penalties and possible cashback - kerching!) and switch back to Ovo later (with another possible cashback - kerching!)

Choose a supplier without early exit fees if you want to follow this route. Also be aware of terms of cashback offerings (e.g. you may need to remain with a supplier for a certain period to be paid the cashback)

With their latest tariffs, Ovo has changed the tariff hopping penalty to a one off termination charge. I think that they have got themselves into something of a Gordian Knot over this. I switched in December because it was just too difficult to stay. I saved myself £112 per year by switching to 2 suppliers.
