My Nephew Received A Disturbing Note About A Neighbour

I bumped into my nephew who is in his mid twenties on sunday whilst out shopping and he told me and my hub he had had a letter put through his door about a neighbour. The note stated a female who is in her late fifties and living across the road is a !!!!!phile. Apparently she had lived in Holland a while back and her ex husband's daughter was abused by her. She spent some time In a dutch jail then after release returned to the UK. The guy she lives with is a ex police officer so my nephew was told. And my nephews next door neighbour says that he got a letter along with several others. Of course it could be a vendetta so no one including my nephew (who doesn't have any children) knows if to approach herself or her partner about this. I realise it is none of my business but could anyone imagine if someone was saying this about them? and what would you do. My nephew was told she is thinks she is a bit of a man eater and has come o to a few married men in local pubs so it could be a revenge thing.

  • I just typed a very mean response and then deleted it.

You sound very happy that there is this awful bit of scandal going around. Perhaps you need to refocus how you look at life.

Hand the note over to the police and let them deal with it. (Call 101 or take it to the police station).

The note was typed and I would bet a weeks wage the person responsible would have made certain no finger prints touched the paper.

    Mind your own business
Your nephew is an adult and can make his own mind up if he is going to spread poisonous gossip or ignore it.

It's nothing to do with you so stop sticky beaking.

Just think "What would Pippa do" !!!!

OP you'd be best forgetting all about it, and your nephew would be best handing the letter he's had to the police. And then forgetting all about it.
  • We've had this on here before, haven't we?

I would just ignore it, it's just gossip.

I worked with a psychopath about 20 years ago (prison doctor's official diagnosis) ... he typed up such a note, printed it out, then went and pasted it all over the Managing Director's small village.

    It was very similar.

The MD was 100% clean - the perpetrator simply picked the most heinous way to try to "get at" the MD due to the twisted wrong thoughts he had going on in his head.

It all ended in tears for the nutter ..... and jail.

Any such letter should be taken to the police. If it's correct, they'll be aware; if it's incorrect they'll look to take action. Best to give it to them and forget it.

I agree - this should be a police matter.

OP I hope you told your nephew to take the letter straight to the police station and not to show it to anyone else.

This is a very serious matter and for him to know that everyone on the street got a letter means that people are getting involved in something that possibly isn't true.

Do not get any more involved with the situation as you could end up getting yourself involved in a big mess which you do not want.
