Went from BT to NTL now Virgin some years ago. Thinking now as there are so many better deals out there for phone and broardbabnd to change to another compny but I dont have a BT phone line from the street to my house. BT took it down and I dont know why. How much is it to have this phone line put back in or do you think I could get it done for free on the above mentioned.

It will normally cost you £124.99p to be connected. Its a years contract, which if you wish to break will cost you £70.0 -

Sorry I dont get what you mean. I want a line from the pole in the street to my house. Are you saying to have this line in will cost £124.99p, but what do you mean by break. Sorry On nights and my brain is a bit slow ready for bed I think.0 -
By break I think they mean, you need to pay for the line on a years contract. If you break the contract you need to pay £70.
It cost me the £125 to have my line put in, but they refunded £50 of that after a year as I had paid my line rental on time each month.
Even if you have had a BT line in before, they will still charge you to reconnect, and you have to pay them monthly line rental as far as I'm aware.0 -
Thanks for that. I understand we pay line rental but some deals you dont need to. E.G Orange £40 this includes 8 meg broadband, free phone calls at night and weekends and a mobile. Orange then pay your £11 line rental. What I cant understand is why should I pay for something they removed. I paid once to have it installed. They even removed it when there was no one home, if we had have been home I would have stopped them. :mad:0

It was removed as you were no longer thier customer, you went to cable by your own choice
It may not be what you intended but there is no reason for any company, or it's customers in higher prices, to provide something you are not using & may never use againEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Orange dont pay your landline rental. You pay it direct to BT, the contract for it is your total responsibility,as is the reconnection of the line. Then once you have got the BT landline up and running you can get the Orange Broadband deal subject to you having or taking out a Orange Mobile Contract for at least £30 a month.
I can see why you are peeved if you paid for the connection of the original BT Line in the first place, but it sounds like the line was completely ceased probaly because you have not used it for yonks, unfortunately if the the wiring from the exchange to your house is no longer in place ,and work needs to be done in exchange,or on route to your premises,BT normally charge a reconnection fee.0
