advice on bg shell offers please

I own 250 odd BG shares.

Now the Shell deal has gone through I need to decide which of the options to go for.

I am minded to choose Either All Cash, or all Shell shares. the default of shares plus cash doesn't appeal.

On what does my decision depend?

On whether you want shares or cash !

I was looking to take all shares as I don't need the cash, however not so sure any longer; too many uncertainties about oil. Shell do look very cheap, but they've dropped another 5 % today (which might make them more of a steal, who knows...).

The default mix of cash and shares is looking like a sensible balanced approach, but I could change my mind.

Or are 2% higher than they were last week, or around 14% higher than they were a couple of weeks ago, or 37% down on their peak last year, or....

I'm afraid I just get hacked-off by the current tendency for all the headline market news to focus around a single day's change in whatever stock or index is being discussed and ignore the wider view!

I sold Shell as they can't make a profit with $30 oil; even less so with overpaying for BG.
