Lloyds TSB

Hi in 2009 I made an insurance claim against Genworth finance it was sold by Lloyds TSB Plan No TS6BTW0033024/175 in 1998. At the time I took it out I was self employed this policy was neither use or ornament but because TSB kept pestering me I took it out, They were supposed to send me paperwork on this but over the years I never received any. And in 2009 I was checking my statements and found I was still paying this I complained to Genworth insurance and TSB and also the Ombudsman. Both Genworth and TSB refused any recompence so I complained to the Ombudsman who very conveniently lost my paperwork and after repeated emails it was never found.
Also in 2009 I complained about TSB giving me a Scottish Widows Pension plan Your Ref Gil/254139 1997 Plan No 611817819which I thought that when the term was up I would get a small pension but I found out in 2009 when plan finished that it was not actually a pension plan but an insurance policy which was again neither use or ornament I complained about this and was turned down I complained to ombudsman but even though they said that policy had not been explained properly they found in favour of Lloyds TSB.
Can you tell me if I can complain again or is it to late and since Lloyds TSB is no longer what can I do.

I assume the Scottish Widows pension plan which turned out to be insurance was a Pension Term Life Assurance (PTLA) which had the advantage of Tax Relief on the payments. How much was the premium your were paying? If you have already complained to Lloyds TSB and then the Ombudsman and the latter has not found in your favour then there really isn't much further you can go short of taking legal action which would likely be unsuccessful.

With Genworth its not clear why the Ombudsman did not simply ask you for further copies of the paperwork. What actually happened with the Ombudsman, did you get no decision at all, is the case still open with them or did you just let things slide? Do you mean you complained in 2009 or tried to make a claim for unemployment/sickness?

Lloyds were very active in retailing pension term assurance. A very popular method of getting tax relief on term assurance. Used it many times myself over the years (when it was still possible to do so).

Anyway, if your complaint was rejected by the bank and then by an adjudicator at the FOS, you have a limited period to appeal the decision to an ombudsman. However, it is now 6 years and that is far too late.

    its game over.
