We have received a leaflet advertising a will writing service and wonder whether anyone knows anything about the company? It is called, My Family Matters

Well their web site is current out of action so not much info there. From their Facebook page it looks like they make money by convincing people they can help them avoid care costs. On that basis avoid and if you don't have wills get them drawn up by a local solicitor.

    PS. Mrs who?

Don't touch non solicitor will writers with a barge pole! All sorts of tricks used to fleece your estate after death such as huge fees for acting as executor. Get the job done by a solicitor. It should not cost more than £150-200 or even less. If they are saying they can avoid care home costs then they are lying! Google deprivation of assets for more information.

One irksome trick they use is to charge an annual "storage fee" - Any self respecting solicitor will store a will free of charge for as long as you remain alive. A decent solicitor will also advise you not to appoint a solicitor as the executor (or at least mine did, and also told me why it is a bad idea).
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

For a one off fee of £20 the Probate service will store it for you and issue a certificate for your own files,

Which I strongly recommend given the cost of extracting the will from a firm that had new partners and were not executors.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
