PPI on mortgage

I had a mortgage that I believe I had some sort of protection insurance attached to it. The thing is that I moved from that property in 2002. I know who the mortgage bank was but I don't have any other details.
What do I need to do to (1) find out if there was any PI that I can possibly reclaim, (2) and if so, how do I go about it?
Many thanks.

And what is the problem with that? Most people have some form of protection with their mortgages. Whether it be life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection or MPPI.(1) find out if there was any PI that I can possibly reclaim,
1 - look at your bank statements. MPPI is not built into most mortgages but paid as a separate monthly direct debit. Its one fo the reason most mortgage PPI complaints fail as that is how it should be set up.
2 - ask your lender (assuming the lender sold you PPI and you didnt use a broker - if you did use a broker then its game over)(2) and if so, how do I go about it?
If you do have it then you need to decide what your complaint reasons are.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
