Hyundai DVD player distorted image

I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution to this problem before I'm forced to go out and buy a new DVD player.

I currently have a Hyundai DVD-320A and recently its started producing a double & blurred image even on the initial screen before you put a disc in. At first I thought it was the old TV it was connected to, but we have the same problem with a portable TV (although the screen is that small on that we can just about cope) and we now have a new HD LED TV and its ridiculously bad on there. I have the manual still and have tried the troubleshooting solutions in there with no luck, I've obviously had it connected to different TVs and I've also used different scart cables with each TV to see if that had an effecct but there hasn't been an improvement. Can anyone suggest something else that might fix this or am I going to have to go and buy a new one?

Are you able to connect the DVD player to any TV other than via scart ?

There's only a scart socket on the back of the DVD player. It is 14 years old.

I'm wondering if by saying it's a blurred image it means your dvd player's video output is a composite signal rather than better quality RGB.

Can you check the video output selection in the dvd player settings?

If the video output is actually set to RGB then maybe there is a problem at the player's scart socket (e.g. incorrect voltage to tell TV to use RGB) and you only ever get the poorer quality composite signal image.

Just guessing really but it is 14 years old

I've been into the menus and tried changing the settings but nothing worked, and I can't see any additional buttons anywhere other than the normal function buttons to press. I guess I'm going to have to buy a new one Now comes the fun of trying to decide which one to buy from a certain catalogue shop....

You could try the s-video output on your dvd player if you have the right lead and an s-video input on your TV (or a scart adapter with s-video connection).

To get sound as well you would have to connect up the audio outputs to the audio inputs on your TV.

Probably only worth the effort if you have the required leads/adapter already to hand.

To be honest DVD players are really cheap now so it will be easier and quicker to just by a new one. If you found the fault it most likely would not be worth fixing anyway.
