HFC Mortgage PPI

Hi… about 30 years ago we had a mortgage with HFC (HSBC) and I am positive that there was a payment protection attached. I have the mortgage agreement number and even the insurance policy number of the attached PPI, but HSBC have point blank refused to answer any questions. What do I do now, please?
By the way, this is the tip of an iceberg as we had numerous products from way back to when they were Midland bank.. and yes, I still have much of the paperwork… how can I make them play ball?!!

Its probably unlikely as PPI only started around 30 years ago and didnt become mainstream until around 20-25 years ago.
In the 80s, it was life assurance that was a requirement of borrowing. Are you sure what you are looking at is PPI and not life assurance?
Another thing it could be is Mortgage Indemnity Guarantee (MIG). This was an insurance if you were borrowing a high loan to valuation.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
