Hi,
My first post here.
I have had '2' tickets from MCP who manage the car parking in a private building in MK
I work for a company that have been allocated a certain amount of free spaces.
I was allocated a parking permit. I have received '2' parking fines because they cannot see the hologram on the permit. Otherwise everything is fine. Correctly displayed, correct bays etc.
I did appeal but no luck. I am now getting letters, which I have ignored. Also letter from debt recovery company, which I intend to ignore.
Technically I guess I am at fault, because I cut the permit to size to fit my old car tax holder. I think I must have cut the hologram off when I did this, They are asking 2x £149!
This cannot be justified for a technical infringement.
I it goes to court my defence will be that the charge is unjustified and that I was not aware that the permit was invalid.
Their notices just say that I must display a valid permit. It does not elaborate what constitutes a valid permit.
What does everyone thing? Should I stick to my guns? Is it likely to go to court?
Thanks....

All the information you need can be found in the Sticky thread for NEWBIES. I hope that when you appealed you didn't reveal who was driving by saying I or me, or this is what happened.
Did you get information on how to make a second stage appeal with the rejection?
If it gets to court you need a lot more defence points than just the one you mention.
Please also confirm the full name of the parking company as I cannot find them as members of either the BPA or IPC. Please also confirm which country within the UK where the alleged event occurred.
You did nothing wrong so get that idea out of your head. You parked where you are permitted to park and displayed a permit. Have you complained to your employer? Have you got a Union rep? If so, they need to get up to speed on scams like these.
Lastly, it is not a fine, it is a speculative invoice that you can beat if you follow the process advised in the NEWBIES thread. Tell all your colleagues to come here and read the NEWBIES before they do anything else should they also get tickets.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

at £149 , I don't think this is a BPA or IPC company ,I can see a MCP parking on google , alas a company that handles airports etc.
I think you might have dropped yourself in it by replying , as by being non BPA/IPC they should not have been able to get your info (for parking offences) from the DVLA.
please advise of the full name and address of this companySave a Rachael

That's what I was thinking. Consequently there may not be an independent appeals process. Another reason why the scamdustry should be regulated.
If it is a typo there may be hope but the OP may still have thrown away a valuable appeal point if they revealed who was driving.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Sorry, incorrect information posted. I was typing from memory. it's
UK Car Park Management
I have not admitted to anything by the way. I also don't think that I'm going to get any help from the management company that employ's them. I didn't follow the POPLA appeals process, but appealed to them directly. From the posts I have read previously POPLA just tend to rubber stamp their decision anyway?
Don't know what other defence I can use. The charges are excessive and the definition of a valid permit are very vague.
Thanks...0 -
please explain the 2 x £149 ?
tickets received = dates
date(s) you appealed
dates of NTK delivered to you
lots more info neededSave a Rachael

That's not true if you. A forum assisted PoPLA appeal has a near 100% success rate.
However, UK Car Park Management are IPC members who do tend to rubber stamp appeals. As such PoPLA is not available to you.
That's why you need to read the NEWBIES thread and why it's important to give us precise correct details. I'm very old and get easily confused otherwise.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

if it is UKCPM then you are getting into a tizzy over all this
UKCPM are a member of the IPA brethren
and as such POPLA is irrelevant ......
"From the posts I have read previously POPLA just tend to rubber stamp their decision anyway?
"
I presume you are refering to the IAS ?
as above POPLA appeals done the forum way is near a 100% success .....
so please re read the newbie thread miss out the BPA stuff and concentrate on the IPC bits .......
but if you have already appealed then you have four courses of action
1 pay ..... not advised
2 do a further appeal to the IAS again not advised
3 ignore
4 go for a land lord / land owner cancellation
good luck

There were '2' incidents. May and August last year.
Original penalty was £100 reduced to £60 on prompt payment
Then increased to £149, presumably because they just can...!0 -
they can try, however they will fail in court with that attitudeSave a Rachael
