rEd display on my electric meter??

Hi

Today my electric meter is displaying rEd where the meter reading is (flashing)

Can anyone tell me what this means, please??

I had solar panels fitted in November.

  • Reverse Electric Discharge. I see this usually when solar panels are in use. I ve also seen this when someone has attempted or has actually bypassed the meter.
  • Just seams strange it's only started within the last few days!!
Just wondered if there could be a fault somewhere??

It is probably only just started being displayed because you have generated more than you are using at one or more times during the day recently. As we have had a few brighter days recently, compared with the rest of the winter, we have started to notice that we are producing more now than we did in December and early January.
  • its because we re getting some sunny days and you ve got little leccy on.switch the kettle on and watch it disappear.
  • I'm guessing there is nothing to worry about then?

The solar company customer service is crap. No after install call to explain how it works. The fitters left after dark so they couldn't even test the system.
I'm guessing when the meter light is on I'm using free electric and when it's off I'm using it from the grid...

  • I put the kettle. The light has gone out but meter still flashing rEd :(

Once it has detected reverse energy it will always switch between Red and the reading. Checked this with my FITS company and they confirmed all OK.

That's partly right. When the red light is permanently on your panels are generating more than you are using. When it is flashing or not on, you are using electricity from the grid.
