not sure if there are (m)any free ones...if you just want to play around to learn you could set up a local server on your pc...thats what i did before i got online hosting. its not all that hard to set up and will provide u with the same functionallity...and if you really wanted to if you have broadband you can allow people access to the service as well by giving them your IP address/subscribing to dyndns or something.0

there are no decent free ones really..
You get what you pay for..
I heard of a cheap host the other day - £5 a year that does php though and is apparently very good. I can try and find out the address..0 -
...dreamhost does still have its £5 for first year promo...but after that it goes back to normal price...if you would like to know how just ask...:)0

Yeah for development you'll want to run MySQL sever on your own PC (download from https://www.mysql.com), then you can do what you like with it without having to upload all the time. You may find the additional tools MySQL Administrator and MySQL Query Browser (both also available from the MySQL site) very useful too if you prefer GUIs to a command line interface.
Don't know much about PHP but I guess you can also install a web server capable of handling PHP on your own PC too.student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
aye that is correct, grab a copy of apache, php and mysql...all free and install...there are guides accross the net which explain the install process eg one i just google'd http://www.webmasterstop.com/48.html0
