Late posting defect

I am so annoyed with ebay and will get on to them later. Had 1 late posting defects which was ridiculous. Item bought Saturday and posted Monday morning by insured mail.

Since when has Saturday been a working day:mad:

But even worse I just noticed another late posting defect. Item bought at 10.30 pm at night on the 25th January and posted the following morning:eek: again by insured mail. (delivered 29th January)

This is not the buyers marking me down as the 2nd one hasn;t left feedback yet. Its all ebay as I put in the tracking numbers.

So from now on I will be marking as dispatched as soon as they pay and no more tracking numbers will be entered (unless there is a problem with delivery).

I will be contacting ebay later and try and get these ridiculous and unfair defects removed.

So check your defect rates guys

  • Late posting metric isn't a defect. I am not sure what you mean by 'insured mail'. If you have an acceptance scan on the tracking within the timescale, you will be able to appeal the late metric.

I only said by insured mail as that was the postal method used for which I put the tracking number in ebay. I won;t be putting tracking details in again I shall simply mark as despatched.

The 'lates' are now the main defect for sellers, the stars etc no longer matter- we are now all paranoid about lates. However, you can have 9% before ebay intervene, although a TRS seller must stay within 4% which is very difficult.

OP, whilst ebay say that the lates generated by signed for not being picked up in time will be dealt with 'later' I think your solution of just not adding the tracking is the best one until ebay get this sorted. If you look at the community boards it appears to be what many sellers have chosen to do especially some big TRS sellers whose tracking has already pushed them way past the acceptable defect rate.

Thanks soolin. This is such an ill thought of idea that ebay have come up with.

I post 2nd class only and some parcels do arrive the following day but not all. To say 2 class post will deliver within 3 days is also stupid but my 2nd late defect was posted the 26th, just 12 hours after buyer paid and still delivered on the 29th just within the 3 days ebay allow.

OP, In the listing did you mark it down as same day dispatch?

I know it's still stupid but the computer system probably doesn't recognise that it's impossible for something to be posted late at night. It is possible to post on Saturday though so I can understand why they might count that.

A rose by any other name. Ebay don't call them defects. However as they can have impact on ability to keep/gain TRS then it's much the same.

There is a post on the boards which suggests that archiving sales once the acceptance scan has been added, does infact cause the ebay metric not to update, therefore removing the late metric if a buyer is out/carded.

I phoned ebay, or should I say, I got them to phone me and they have agreed to remove the defects for late posting.

The woman I spoke to said she can see from the tracking when I posted both items and when delivered and will remove them. She was very pleasant and said the defects would be removed within the next 72 hours as it can take that long to update.

She couldn;t say why this happened though so will be keeping a close eye on the seller dashboard.

eBay has recognised it as a wide spread bug in the new metrics system.

Some reps are saying it will 'definitely' be resolved by Feb 20th, others are saying they 'hope' it will be resolved.

I am personally not holding my breath!

Just a little update on this.

ebay have removed both defects. Not sure how long it actually took as had no internet connection since Tuesday lunchtime.

It now shows no late defects but it does show now as late posting defects removed, which annoys me tbh.

So if anyone has any defects they disagree with, defo complain to ebay and you might get lucky and get them removed too.
