Same here, except it's over 20 for me.

OP - I'm not sure there's much we can do but the thing that seems to need to be addressed is making spending decisions based on a cashpoint balance being higher than expected. It's probably much better to plan your spending rather than having a splurge as a result of that balance. Spending in that way means you'll always spend what you have and end up with no savings.

Some great suggestions above, having 2 accounts is so much easier now and means you get a better rate of interest so having one purely for your known spending and the other for savings.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I don't need to keep track because my spending is consistent and I finish every month with a surplus. The only time I might keep track is when I buy something and I make sure I can afford it. These days though I'm being frugal while I increase my mostly dead unless needed rainy day fund from £1000 to £3000.

It's good that you've got this off your chest.

Regarding apps, this below is not a bad one, simple and free - I used it before - but it requires you to be disciplined and enter all bills (recurring) and spending (as it happens).

  • Fab suggestions, thank you.
  • Really pleased for you that you don't require any help with you finances. I on the other hand did, hence my post asking for it.
