I have had the email below. When I click the verification link my computer gives me security warnings. Is this a scam? Has anyone else had this?
Dear Customer,
Starting February 2016 Amazon is making integrity checks of his customer's accounts, how they use the account or if the account is still used by the customer. If the account is not used for a longer period of time (2 months) it will be disabled by Amazon and then removed in the next two months of inactivity.
To validate the use of your Amazon, account please follow the generated link bellow:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ap/validate6encoding=d41d8cd98cf84285254399412002221311211
Additional Information
The procedure to disable and/or delete the account according to the Terms and Conditions of Usage, will take place in 48 hours after this email was send.
- The verification procedure requires a very short time from the customer.

Obviously a scam. Why do you even need to ask?poppy100

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

Yep, a rather obvious scam.
The opening "Dear Customer" suggests the sender doesn't know your name. Amazon would if you're a customer.
Poorly written.
The one I received was sent from notification15@service.co.uk. Even though it's very easy to fake an email address, why wouldn't Amazon use one of its own?
Why would Amazon disable and remove accounts that hadn't been used for two months? I'm sure many of its customers are infrequent purchasers.
The URL in the version I received directs to www . amzvalid.org and not www . amazon.co.uk as suggested. It's quite a simple trick:
Q. Which of these URL's point to the BBC's website?:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/
A. They both do!0 -
I thought you said it was funny - I didn't laugh at all.0

i got a spoof buyer email looking very real. Amazon marketplace emails are really basic, plain text emails and because of that they're very easy to forge. I got these emails into my business and it looked very real - it looked like a genuine buyers message and I hovered over thje hyperlink and saw that the link was not an amazon domain. They had the domain like this =
http://www.amazon.co.uk.gjdjgsgsewnhc.com/
Looks almost believable but you must always look for the domain before the first single /
In this case the domain is gjdjgsgsewnhc.com/0 -
This domain structure security flaw was never envisioned back in the day. They never thought internet would be so mainstream and critical part of everyday life and they needed to make it more spoofproof for luddites
Had they know they probably wouldn't have allowed subdomains to be structured like this. They probably would have made all subdomains come after the domain name.0 -
Surely the atrocious grammar is enough of a red light. Then the URL redirect, the "dear customer", and the fact that the request is illogical.
OP I really worry for you that you even had to ask this question. Please be very careful when using a PC, and if possible just don't do things online.0 -
