:rotfl:My grandad was in France during WWII. He ate grass to stay alive. If we found anything other than food on our dinner plates, we could eat it or leave it, but not moan about it. The half tiny slug was my worst, but I have also had the "lucky dog hair" many times.
The last time I was sick that didn't involve alcohol was when I was 14. I'm 42 now :rotfl:
I would also rather that my 4 year old ate things with sugar in and brushed his teeth (he doesn't often eat sweets) than had artificial sweetener.0 -

I feel the same aboiut sugar and artificial sweetener but just passing on what my dentist told me - they shouldn't brush their teeth for at least 20 minutes after eating something sweet. Apparently it sort of softens the enamel temporarily and brushing too soon can wear it away. However after that it is important to brush.
What I remember most is being bundled up with so many woolies I could hardly move. Hated it then but last winter I counted myself wearing 6 layers including coat.
However I refuse to cross the ends of my scarf and tie them round my waist!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
2. antibacterial cleaning solutions for kitchens and hands. my grandparents/parents didnt have them then - i dont use them - if i need germ killers then its bleach all the way. not a jot of food poisoning for as long as i can remember!
These aere my pet hate, they just paly on people's fears to get them buy stuff they don't need. Hot water and soap has always worked fine for me.
And...are dog hairs lucky?? If so I mst be the luckiest person in the world as I can't remember the last time I had a meal without oneAugust grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -

He's quite good with his teeth. He's been going to the dentist since he was small and thinks the chair is really a slide that you have a go on once the dentist has counted your teeth....
You also reminded me about my love affair with my hot water bottle. The only place it hasn't been to with me is Tenerife :rotfl:I made my own scarf last winter, but got bored of knitting before it was long enough to cross over.
Did anyone else have a horrible itchy hat knitted by a family member? I think I was in my late 20s before I realised hats didn't actually need to make you feel that bad.clutterydrawer wrote: »And...are dog hairs lucky?? When I was a small girl, having to wear last winters wooley tights. They were always just too small, and the crutch was mid thigh! They would work their way down constantly.
Army style blankets on the bed, and there never seemed quite enough when it was really cold, so my sister and I used to huddle in one bed with our blankets combined plus a coat or two on top if it was really chilly.0 -
