They're all the same. Money out and money in. What do you mean by clearest ?

Do you mean easy to ready good layout? Who do you bank with??

do you not like the statements you get??
  • Yes clearest layout etc. Santanders are really small font and I find it hard to read through.

Also nationwide show any faster payment made to a uk bank account as 'transfer' whereas Santander show it as a 'bill payment' which when paying rent etc is better to show as a bill payment.

I know I'm being picky here but I do use paper statements to help me budget my money and I want a clear one
  • Ask Santander for a large print version

Do you Bank online with Santander ?

My 123 on line statement gives me to who (eg E.on), ref number (their account number), mandate number (eg 007)

When printed this full description is there .
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Why not try to get it in large print.. Will that help? :)
  • Nationwide's statements are very good. Clear font, and they use full explanations like:

"24 Dec - Direct Debit to Sky Digital - £44.00"

    rather than:

    "24/12 DD SKY DIGI £44.00".

For actual print clarity, Child & Co statements are very good, because they seem to be printed on an old dot matrix printer. Which is weird, because normal RBS seems to have gone all 21st century.

Dot matrix? I'd have expected nothing any more modern than a quill pen :D.

I haven't seen a RBS statement for a few years but they have been laser printed for (from memory) at least the last 20.

That's what the little + and - buttons at the top of Acrobat Reader are for, you can have the statements any size you like; and they're really detailed.
  • Thanks all- yes Biggles you're quite right I should perhaps make use of the zoom feature on acrobat !!

my problem is I like to have a record of my bills being paid but I hate all the 'little' transactions such as Tfl/contactless payments/ small grocery shops showing up amongst all the direct debits and main bills. Whenever I have to provide a bank statement I don't like the idea of every little purchase being scrutinised.
