Problem with Boombar wireless pc speaker

Hello

I have had a Boombar wireless speaker for about a year for my PC. It has suddenly stopped working. The sound comes out via headphones and the speaker has flashing blue light. Do the batteries on these usually need replacing?

I am not sure whether I have inadvertently changed the settings on my pc. The driver appears to be installed. Thanks.

What the headphones are connected to: PC or the speaker?
The batteries need charging if the speaker used without a power supply. Even if they fail eventually and don't hold the charge, it has to work with a power supply.

Headphones connected to the PC. So I can't work out why the speaker won't work.

I thought the speaker battery would get charged if I have connected it to the PC?

To charge it you can connect it to a PC or a mains charger.
Do you still have the manual? It doesn't say what flashing blue light means, but if the reason is lost connection, it explains how to 'pair' the speaker with the PC.

Also, your PC is supposed to have some bluetooth dongle that is worth checking.

  • I don't know anything about the boombar, but surely plugging in Headphones will stop other audio output devices?

Thanks grumbler. I've just done one of those fixes with a few steps, where I'm not sure how I fixed it but I did. It was something to do with the volume mixer in the audio tab (can't remember how I ended up in there) and I unticked a box.

Hope it doesn't happen again as I won't know how to fix it. I notice that the Boombar is listed as a 'handsfree headset' on my pc rather than speaker. Going into that and making it my default audio device seemed to sort it out and gave me access to the volume control - I had tried the volume control at the bottom of my screen but had to click into something else to get to this - I think there was an option 'troubleshoot sound problems' when I right clicked. Thanks for the info anyway.:)

I plugged them in separately - purely to check it wasn't the pc sound that wasn't working. So then I knew it was the speaker and it turned out to be a setting that had changed. Thanks.

'Speaker' icon in the bottom right corner >> Mixer?
    and I unticked a box.
I don't know any tick boxes in the Mixer.

    Glad you found it

    Hi

There was a button 'open enhancements' and I think it was after clicking on that. Before that I right-clicked on 'troubleshoot sound problems' on the sound icon (rather than initially the volume mixer).

Sorry but there were a few steps and it appeared to be some problem with one of the default settings. I didn't expect it to work so didn't keep a record of what I did.
