  • That model of Sangamo Weston is nt a dial meter., just a standard mechanical meter. No rotating dials of confusing pointers. Its the model I find which stops dead a lot with a blank showing on the single kwhr digit. It will also run backwards with solar panels. Its very accurate. So where are you using all this electricity ?
  • I think it is time for you to post your historical meter readings and the dates they were taken!

The meter itself is a dial meter, Sangamo Weston S200.31,

This is a dial meter, very easy to misread,

this is Sangamo Weston, you should only read the white digits.

Have you left something switched on?

A 100w bulb in your attic would account for nearly 900 kwh; an oil filled radiator/electric towel rail/ propagator in your greenhouse ....... ?

    OP has a gas combi!

It won't be the first time that someone describes a condensing boiler as a combi boiler, or vice versa, so worth the OP confirming that they do not have a hot water tank with a back up immersion heater.
OP, do I understand correctly that your meter is about 45 years old? If so, it's long overdue for replacement, so put in for a smart meter anyway if available.
If your usage has gone up in the last year, I'd suspect a misread. If it's been high for some time (e.g. over two or more bills), then it's something else.
And whatever else you do, get off Standard today, as it's costing you maybe £600pa extra on your current usage, if you are on Standard tariff for your gas as well
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
