Best time to look for a flight deal to HK (to fly on 01/03/08)

I know 100% that I want to goto Hong Kong on the 1st March (or there abouts) for 2 weeks from Manchester in 2008...

When is the best time for me to book return flights (only) to Hong Kong?

Is it too early to look and book now?

Should I leave it till just after the new year when hopefully there are some new year sales on flights to Hong Kong?
Or is this still too early?

In general, when is it the best time to book for a return flight when you know of the date of when you want to go and get the best rates?

Oh, one more quick question!

I'm sure I read somewhere, where they say it's cheaper to fly out on a certain day of the week? Would this normally be a weekday or a weekend and does this rule apply when coming back to the UK as well?

I would say book now.
I know with BA it is cheaper to go during the week don't know about the others

I have used Oasis earlier this year. They were OK but they made me mad when they E-mailed me saying that my return flight from HK to UK had been cancelled, 2 days before and prior to when I was flying out to Hong Kong.

If I didn't get that E-mail I would never have known about my cancelled flight back to the UK.

Also, I don't want to go via Oasis as I'm from Leeds and I don't want to travel to London to fly to Hong Kong again...

I really wanna fly out from Manchester (as that is much closer to me) and I really don't mind paying extra rather than get it cheaper with Oasis via London Gatwick airport.
