Carpet Fitting - Store vs Private

I have been quoted by a carpet store £1700 to fully fit carpet and underlay across 3 bedrooms, lounge, landing and stairs. The carpet is £26.99 psm in their store but they have done 20% off and thrown in a few other little deals to encourage us. Bringing it down from around £2100.
I have found the same carpet online however for £16.99 psm and am unsure whether or not it would be worth me sourcing materials myself and having it privately fitted. I could possibly save a couple of hundred quid but wouldn't apparently get the guarantee and after sales support of the carpet store. If anyone can offer any advice it would be very much appreciated.
Carpet: Invictus Sirius 70oz
Underlay: Tredaire Dreamwalk 11mm
Lounge: 5040 x 3235
Bed 1: 3725 x 3235
Bed 2: 2650 x 3500
Bed 3: 2280 x 2600
Landing & Stairs: Roughly 6m2
The total floor size is 48m2 but the total size of carpet required according to carpet store, due to width of carpet only being available in 4m and 5m, would be 64.8 m2.
Thanks

What after sales service will you likely get from a 'store'?
Find a local carpet company to see what they will do the job for and then price all the materials (don't forget gripper rods etc) online or from a local outlet.
I bought my carpet, underlay, gripper bars and paper underlay from a local discount store (saved a fortune this way) then had it fitted to my 2 bedrooms for £50 or £60 a room!
In the 3 years it has been down, 2.5 of those with a baby/toddler. I have not needed any aftersales service!
I did call the fitter back out recently and he did some adjustments to the carpet in 1 bedroom as I had installed fitted wardrobes and he did this free as he was laying a screed in my cellar!
I would never use one of the big carpet chains as even if they are competitive on the carpet they will not be on the underlay and gripper bars.

To be honest, The large stores have such a high turnover it's unlikely you'll get cheaper carpet (when their big 50% sale is on). If not tey the independant stores.
However, you can make big savings on the underlay. We ordered ours online and rolled it out and cut it up ourselves. You can also get the grippers and bars yourself too.0
