Strong fumes from new oil boiler

Options
We've just had our oil boiler replaced 2 weeks ago, it's a grant combi boiler now installed which replaced an ageing firebird, the old one was leaking kerosene slowly, despite a few initial teething problems with the grant (a small leak which was sorted) it's been working fine but when it's on I notice an awful strong smell of fumes (different to kerosene smell) that is unbearable.

The boiler is situated in an outbuilding at the back of our house but I can smell the fumes if I've been out and come through the gate at the front and side of our house. I'm concerned if this is normal as I can't imagine being abke to enjoy my garden in the summer with the smell it's giving out.

Is this normal? We haven't contacted the engineer yet and haven't as yet paid for the install (still waiting for the invoice)

It is normal for the fumes to smell, obviously, however it's not often that the smell causes problems. Is the flue from the new boiler in the same place as the old one? Has the new boiler been set up and commissioned in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions?

We've recently had a new Grant Eco installed. It sounds like a Boeing 737, so I can certainly hear it, but I don't smell it unless I'm walking right past the boiler room flue outlet.

It isn't an oily smell, I agree, but I don't find it a problem. Until now, I've not given it a second thought.

It may or may not be an issue, but either way you won't be in the garden in the summer when it's on very often. Only when someone is using hot water ( not you, because you are in the garden).

We have just had a grant installed last week. RS flue type that's installed in a utility room. there was a smell from the actual boiler for a couple of days. (I assume it was just metal/boiler heating up) smell now gone.

if you mean from your flue, I have always found flue gas always smells slightly.

out of interest what was your install cost?
