Hello. My three year old son severely burned his hand on a fire in a hotel that did not have a guard and that appeared to be a fake fire. Despite my warnings, whilst I was distracted by checking in, he touched it and got a severe burn. Despite my warnings and specific requests, the hotel have refused to turn the fires off ( it's not a chain, but is a big hotel) until a guard is mounted. An accident report was filed at the time and I want to report this to the HSE. Am I entitled to a copy of this report?

I'm so sorry for your little ones injury.
I guess it's down to the hse what action is deemed necessary , not for you to tell them.
Perhaps you could have a chat to to the health and safety officer from the area?
An open fire in reception( I assume it was in reception) would be a risk , have they said how they plan to minimise the risk in future? Insisting all children under 5 hold their parents hand while checking in?0 -
Fake fires are made to look like real ones . Not visa versa . Report them to the local safety standards and tell them your doing so . They should have took measures before your nippers injury but honestly need shooting if its still unsafe . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
