Hotels.com Charging in Local Currency

I've used this firm a lot in recent years.
Topcashback, free night for ten stays, ease of cancellation and overall reliability has appealed.
They have also always charged me in Sterling for overseas bookings. Unless I've taken a pay at hotel option.
Maybe it's just my last two bookings, but they now appear to charge you in local currency. Triggering charges on most debit/credit cards.
Have your Halifax Clarity card to hand next time you use them!

Surely there will have been a charge (maybe hidden) in the sterling price?0

Curious... I made a couple of bookings with them in the last few days (in Malaysia). On my Barclaycard these are still listed as pending, but it does look as if they were charged in Sterling. Throughout the booking and payment process, all amounts were shown in Sterling and there was no indication that any other currency was used.
Is it possible that there is something wrong with your account settings?0 -

Prices in sterling. $ warning came just before purchase.0 -
This happened to me last week. I was stung for £20 currency charges by Barclaycard. I do have a Travelex Global card that I always use for foreign currency transactions but didn't bother as I've never had this with Hotels.com before. Ironically I was going to book the same hotel with Venere but didn't because their prices were in Euros..0
