What is the best account for a temporary resident?

Options
I am in the UK for a temporary project (one year) without a regular salary. I need to open an account to transfer my money from abroad, and use it for my daily expenses.

Which account type in which bank better suits me?

The main purpose is to deposit a few thousand pounds and spend it with the debit card. I appreciate if there is a bonus program for card purchases.

British banks normally require a verifiable UK address to open an account. What will your situation be?

If you have a US dollar or euro account in your home country and open a Revolut account on their smartphone app, you could load it from your home account, convert to pounds and use the prepaid Mastercard. The address you use to sign up must be the same as that for the account(s) you will fund it from.

The OP will find it easier using their existing debit card for daily expenses while in the UK. Larger payments can be sent direct from their overseas account to the UK beneficiary account eg that of a landlord.

It will be very difficult in their situation to open an account in the UK without a permanent UK address.

No doubt you're not the only one to notice.

Anyone using it's versatility as extensively as I have, completely free of charges and converting at interbank rates, might develop a soft spot for Revolut.

However I feel less inclined to recommend it while there seem to be glitches in their new app version and new AVS procedure, which hopefully they can sort out.
