Credit report, to have a real or zero balance?

Hi all
Very long time watcher, this is my first post.

I have had a Barclaycard for around 12 years. Each month I receive my balance which I always pay off on time. Some months I clear my Balance before my bill so my balance Bill balance is zero and other times I let my balance go over the statement date as a balance and then clear the statement balance that month. When I do this the balance shows on my credit reports but when I clear it prior it shows on my credit reports as zero.

Can I please ask, to a future lender what looks better on my credit reports to a future lender - always having a zero balance or having a balance each month which is then paid in full?

Kind regards and thank you in advance
Richey :)

The lender just looks to see if it's active. If you pay it off before the bill is produced then the card does not look active.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

think about it logically say in Jan you spent and paid off £100 if in February you had no spend would you be worried that the statement balance shows £0? So why are you worried that the balance shows £0 on your statement even though you had spends between statements that you paid off?
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

OP did ask what a future lender might think, not what the OP should think. If OP applies at some future date for another CC and the prospective lender (more likely a computer) does find the current card is very little used, then they will question the need for another card. After all, the Credit files will only show the monthly balances, not the individual purchases.
