Eurostar 60 day ticket rebooking window post Paris attacks

Hi MSE community - been caught out by Eurostar and wondering if there’s any way around this or to escalate further. Alternatively will just need to claim on travel insurance.

I booked 2 return Standard Premier tickets to Paris for Sat Nov 14 which turned out to be the day after the tragic attacks. So we decided not to go. At the time I remember checking the Eurostar website to see if tickets would be exchanged or refunded and there was a big banner on the home page saying yes. But sadly i didn’t read the small print. I emailed Eurostar last night to see what the process was ref re-booking and today received an email from them saying that the rebooking was only available for 60 days and any time after that the booking would have “dropped off the system” and not possible to refund or exchange. I called them as well just now to be told the same thing and I have simply lost my money (£318 to be precise). And they added that Eurostar has made a loss too. They are saying there is nothing they can do and the 60 days was posted on the website at the time. Surely they would have contacted / emailed relevant passengers nearer the 60 day expiration to remind them?? To be honest I was under impression it would be more like a 3 month window so hadn't thought to check.

Anyway I am just posting this to see if anyone else has experienced this and if they found any workarounds or basically a way to exchange the tickets or for Eurostar to honour this.

If not - I am guessing my only other avenue is to claim on my travel insurance?

Look forward to any feedback

Many thanks

Well clearly they didn't, so I'm not sure what value there is in asking the question. You can try your travel insurance but they may argue that you had an opportunity to mitigate your losses and didn't take it. I wouldn't be surprised if the money is completely lost now.
