bored/going through the motions

Feeling pretty bored lately, which has leas me to have pangs of just uprooting to a different city in the country for a fresh start.
Background : split up ltr 1.5 years ago from partner. Moved back home. Bought first place a year or so ago. Reconnected with old friends / acquaintances. Self employed working is going well, but a bit bored and contemplating career change. Been on several dates, not found anyone. Some closer friends have drifted away. Others I don't fully connect with.
If I found the right person, I would move away again like I did a few years back, but it's not my main motivation as I've been hurt twice with long distance relationship.
I'm not depressed. I go to work, play sport and have hobbies.
But sometimes feel like I'm existing instead of living (like recently).
I don't know if it's a phase or blip, but feel it's been building. Yes, I've joined meetup, which I make an effort couple times a month.
Issue is I have a mortgage, so can't up and leave. My property has gone up several thousand in value, checking recent stats. I have some savings too.
I think : I miss having someone + some job boredom/uncertainty + people drifting apart = moving away for a fresh life.
But would or could I settle somewhere else? Could I live on a lower salary and retrain easily? Could I meet more like minded people quickly? Would I miss the small group I have? Could I restablish myself with work here again if it didn't work out? Where would I move (a few other cities have piqued my interest).
I don't know. Just thinking out loud.
Probably quite telling that the last thread I created was about moving to another European City
Any advice or tips or motivations welcome.

moving somewhere else just for the sake of it, you'd still just be going through the motions, but you'd be doing so somewhere else, so what would be any different?0

If there's nothing holding you back, then move.

And good luck.
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!

Not sure about that? I'd be forced NOT to go through the motions, get out my comfort zone, meet new/different people and gain a different perspective from a different habitat.
Do you disagree?0 -
You can get out of your comfort zone and meet new people now, you don't have to move to do that!
Sounds like you're stuck in a rut, can't you make a fresh start where you are?0 -

and when the new/different people are not new/different anymore? I don't believe you need a new habitat to get a different perspective on life - there are many ways we can become more rounded in our perspectives.0 -
How?
Think it's just a rut phase.
Maybe my expectations are high or I want it all and want it now.
Hoping to start voluntary work in spring.0 -
If you move, the first person you meet will be yourself, far better to address the issues that are making you think that change will solve things0

Sounds like you feel like you are just treading water and you need a goal - be it short term or longer term - No point in moving just for the sake of it - but if there is somewhere that offers you more than you have now....that isn't "just for the sake of it"I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
