actually they can. Its certainly not as common as a windows pc, but its still possible.
Some apps in the past have contained various virus that initially got past apples inspection. Often taking advantage of other security flaws.
But those aren't actually viruses. They are examples of malware. Not all malware are viruses. As I said examples of malware for iOS devices exist.

Its not a virus its malware lol, a spade is a spade no matter how deep the hole.

A virus replicates but so can malware. And not all virus infections spread. Some have a lovely payload.

The best one that encrypts all your files and you wont notice until something removes the virus and then you find your files encrypted. Genius that one.

what do you think viruses are ?

virus is just a type of malware

most viruses are just code embedded into other programs, they usually require the user to download and run the program to get infected. Just the same as the ones you find embedded in iOS apps

Safer maybe, but infallible no. There are nasties out there for non jail broken devices.

Why do you thin IOS gets updates? Its not just adding features and breaking stuff.

Sisters phone no longer connects to the cars bluetooth to auto answer calls since an update.

No, not deluded. But thank you for the compliment none-the-less. You made my day.

In terms of your sister's phone this is a known issue in iOS 9.2.1 and functionality will be restored in iOS 9.3.
