Double glazing and VAT

Hi, I am thinking about getting double glazing and wondered if I should wait to see if the VAT is going to be reduced from August 2016? There is an EU directed consultation which will end on 3rd Feb. See:-

I know that the EU has *literally* just cracked down on 5% on energy saving measures saying that the UK is applying it too widely and incorrectly. It's going to get much tighter.
I very much doubt that it will be extended to windows and doors.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I am with Doozergirl. There is no way any sensible argument can be put forward for new windows having 5% VAT. Indeed, if there was any likelihood of this being the case it would have happened years ago, and not be in the pipeline for a time when money is tight for all European government budgets.
Also bear in mind doubleglazingblogger is a silver tongued salesman who has a vested interest in posting anything that gives publicity to him, his company, his profits, his commission and the double glazing industry.
Would you really trust any double glazing salesman to tell you the truth?0 -
Many thanks Doozergirl and Furts for your replies. Much appreciated.0
