This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Brrrrr!
Is everyone doing what I'm doing? Staying close to home and hiding from the raging storm? It's been wild outside all night and is still going. No rain here just hail showers.
I've decided that the favourite item of the week is my electric blanket, followed closely by the stand-by hot water bottle.
I'm foraging for food in the freezer and pulled out venison sausages. So be it.
Still reading and drinking tea with intermittent bursts of activity when needed.
I really hope everyone is warm, safe and well.0 -
Morning all,
I was wondering where the daily was ! have we all overslept ?
Nice ish day here bit breezy but keeps pouring down with rain, so drying will need to be done in doors again !
Going to have a good clean through today, may nip to the shops this afternoon, will see if I fancy it or not, must sort out the fridge / freezer as they have both got in a bit of a mess.
Burger in a bun for dinner with some wedges and sweetcorn nice easy dinner, OH will probably cook.
BB I am so sorry for your loss xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all. We are all latecomers today. I had a bit of a restless night as always and when I got up I felt lifeless (so what's new?!) and got my feet up to watch Sports Relief Bake Off on catch-up. Missed it first time round as DGD's to get to bed!
Just been carrying on with the upstairs dust and vac as I downed tools yesterday. These new tablets are making me so tired - at the wrong time! Why don;t they make me tired at 4.00 a.m.!!
Need to pop in town (weather permitting) this afternoon and whilst we are down we want to book our train tickets for Liverpool next week for Mr TA's next bout of treatment. We go next Sunday till Tuesday and want to try and reserve seats on the Leeds to Liverpool leg. Last time it was so horrendously busy with standing room only by the time we got on. Hope we haven't left it too late to reserve this time.
Not much else planned for today! It seems we could have snow later today or tomorrow. It tried earlier but came to nothing. Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
GERS - thanks for starting the thread . Stay safe and warm .
RED RUBY - another indoor drying day here in the north . I long for spring days and washing lines blowing in the sunshine . How sad is that ?
BB - So sorry to read your sad news . Lets all hope February is better than January .
Off to catch up on housework and ironing neglected while I was ill .
Food will be soup for lunch and probably a baked potato with cheese , spinach and baked tomatoes later .

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Morning All
Woke up to snow this morning, the sun is presently splitting the skies but dark clouds looming.
After months of thinking about it, I went for a swim. Why oh why haven't I made the effort before, I feel good now. I used to swim every day but life got in the way. Bought a monthly ticket so will have to go to get my money's worth now!
Had a nice meal and chat with friends last night, we met at 5.30 so I was home by 9.
WM on, DW will go on soon when I've had breakfast. Need to have a dust and hoover round then do some knitting and watch TV I think, the weather is too cold to do much else. Stopped at Ald! on my way home from the pool for heat logs so am well stocked up.
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Hello everyone, been up since 3.30 due to someone's unlatched gate crashing and banging in the wind. Now feeling somewhat tired. Him indoors has been to Te*Co to do shopping with vouchers that came for me in the post and I failed to read them properly, thought they were for Internet only. Yesterday he did some of the shopping at Mo**is ons, earning a voucher for next week, I can't quite keep up with this.
I have made 2 crocodiles, 3 snakes and started on monkeys. When i finish this collection of tiny knitted animals will probably start another lot as I have lots of friends with small children and it is using up scraps from my stash though they really are small so the using up is not fast.
Washing machine on, as ever.
I keep yawning, so much so that my jaw could become unhingedgenerally speaking am probably unhinged.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
I forgot! Happy Birthday big boy Zebra!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Apart from that we,re going to stay tucked up in front of the wood burner.
Stay safe and warm all xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Good Morning everyone, not a bad day here today it was damp earlier on but is just grey and dry now. We've just had a run out to one of the local villages which has the best hardware shop in the area and got DD1 a new whistling kettle still reduced in the sale for £20, good heavy steel bottom too and I found a 20cm 3 tier stainless steel steamer for me for £25 in the sale, been looking for one for ages but they're like hens teeth down here so I'm very pleased with both items.
Another one who didn't wake up this morning, He Who Knows bought me a cuppa at 8 as we were expecting the Sky engineer between 8 and 10 and he then turned up at 5 past 8, fixed the broadband problem and was gone by 20 past, brilliant service and gave us the rest of the day rather than having to wait in as initial information said between 8 and 5pm!
Nothing much planned for the rest of the day, I've been stuck inside so often this month because of the weather all the jobs have been done including tidying the storeroom and sorting the kitchen cupboards I'll just have to watch the Rugby this afternoon shame, but someone has to do it!
Have yourselves a good day all and thank you for your birthday wishes for Zebra, much appreciated, Lyn xxx.0 -
Been a wild and windy day here with bursts of torrential rain and huge hailstones rattling the windows and sending the cats charging up and down the stairs as though devils dogs were after them.Things have quietened down a little now and the mogs, pacified by bowls of food have finally gone to sleep. The lamps are lit and there's HM curry bubbling away in the slow cooker. Got my woolly socks on and my pjays warming on the radiator. Simple pleasures.0
