Can I add my help request to this list too please? I'm looking for a reasonably priced laptop to replace my student son's 4 year old machine which has ground to a halt. Needs to be quick, fairly light as he carries it everywhere & have decent memory space. If I could afford it, I'd splurge on a Macbook but that's way beyond my means right now.

HPs are solid - my first ever laptop was an HP and I have had many including in the past few years - all well built and a decent spec. Ideally check reviews online and/or get your hands on them in the shops to work out which models are well made.
To err is human, but it is against company policy.

What is your budget? Macbooks in high street store start at around £750 these days, for the lowest. Probably £1,000 is the price to start getting a reasonable one.

It largely depends on how much you are willing to pay to some extent! Having said that, you should be able to get something reasonable for under £500.

I was ideally looking to spend around £700 on a windows Laptop but am in two minds to pay the extra to get the Mac Book Air or Mac Book Pro. I suppose the thing stopping me is th £999.00 price tag really.

Just want people opinions if its worth paying the extra for the MacBook. I have seen alot of good reviews for the Asus UX305CA but cant decide what to do.
