Pensions from bank and civil service and have protection, as do our two state pensions. What do you want/need these savings for exactly?
You say you can easily live on your current pensions, what have you been doing with income from these investments? Is yur current income indexed (your state pensions are, but what about the rest)? Will you have need for capital in the near future?
TBH, if you dont need the income and you have been happy with your investments and how they are performing, you could just leave them as they are.
Or you c an find a proper IFA, as who you have doesnt sound like they are?
Income from share based investments is relatively insignificant; insurance based does not produce income, the whole purpose of such being to provide growth. We all know about bank interest.
Proper IFA....I know you don't mean to, but the way you have phrased it sounds,if he is dishonest. Unfortunate!0 -

I read atush's "Proper IFA" as having the stress on the I for Independent. The details you posted earlier suggested that the FA might not be an Independent Financial Advisor.0 -
Exactly :T0

Now, how does one suss out a good IFA? I looked up in Unbiased those near my postcode, and as you will know Unbiased covers a wide radius from the code. About 80 came up, so without recommendations from others it is like closing the eyes and sticking in a pin.
I wonder how many just give up!
What questions does one ask to get a feel of the adviser's worth?0 -
If you have any friends or acquaintances who are in a similar financial position to you, ask them if they use an IFA and if they would recommend them.0
