How to remove a bad file from your report

I received a claim from Capquest in 2011 regarding an Orange mobile phone account. After over a year of telling them I didn't owe the money I managed to get evidence from Orange to prove this. I requested a letter from Capquest which stated this was their error and it has been closed.

I have just ran a credit score and it is still on my score as a negative as outstanding default debt!

This has really messed up my credit rating, how do I get it removed from my file?
:(

You didn't run your score, you got a credit report and your score/rating is no more useful than a packet of digestives, your score/rating is useless as lenders don't see it.

Did the letter not say the entry would be removed ?

It does take time for an entry to be removed.

You could try informing which of the 3 agencies you got the report from that the entry is incorrect and see what they say.

Theres 3 CRA's, Equifax, Experian and Noddle so get a stat report from the other 2 and see if its listed on them
  • They stated it would be removed over 18 months ago. It's on my Experian also. I have no idea where to start. I have a copy of the letter still from Capquest stating it was an error, should I send it to the credit report agencies?
