PPI on HSBC mortgage

We moved our mortgage to HSBC 14 years ago and I have found a quote from them which includes a monthly PPI payment

I approached them about claiming the PPI back but they are saying they need bank statements proving that we paid it

Obviously we don't have them, and I can't find any other paperwork than the quote

Is there anything I can do ?

You don't need the statements, but obviously it helps to be sure. Watch Martin Lewis (8pm ITV last night) on catch up as he covers how to reclaim PPI payments.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

Why is it obvious you dont have statements? I have mine going back to 1988.

A quote is just an offer of cover. You could have been given several quotes (with, without, alternatives etc). A quote doesnt mean you had it.

You dont know if you had the product. You cant prove you had it and the bank has no history of you having it. So, this is dead in the water.

If you dont believe them then you can spend £10 and do a DSAR but HSBC are pretty good on these things and if they say they have no record, they probably havent.
