I'm going to be ringing Virgin Media to see if I can get a better price for what I'm on. Or even go to lower package for a cheaper price than it would normally cost me.
I know best thing is to go through cancellation department (CD) but as anybody ever been told by CD ok if you wish to leave then we'll cancel your contract?
Also if I've had a better offer from Sky would I need to prove it? Even if it was a verbal offer (personally I'm happy with VM)

In summary, these days you have to got ahead and cancel and hope they call you back within 30 days with a better offer.
You don't usually have to prove a deal with someone else, buts its good to have the prices to hand to quote0
