I had an outstanding debt via them , this disappeared from my credit file several mths ago (think it was july/aug last yr)

letter in the post from them today

statement of account

clearly showing date assigned as 10/03/2009

as this has clearly gone over the 6 yr stage , and has disappeared from my credit file , I know that they would struggle getting a court to restart proceedings

why have I been sent this letter ? will I get a "birthday card" from them every year till I die?

The date of the last payment is important, when did you last pay them?

Have you ever acknowledged this debt in writing?

date of last payment would be back in 2009 , no contact has been made with this company in the time between then and now , I have moved address approx. 4 yrs ago , they were not informed.

A statement of account is a legal requirement of the Consumer Credit Act(s), so DCAs are having to get used to sending these. Even when the account is basically 'duff' some other way.

In theory, indefinitely. In practice I would imagine they'd give up in the not too disant future when it's apparent that giving up on the account is their sensible option.
