  • If your employer has a dispensation, you wont be taxed on those expense payments. If they don't then you will receive a P11D at the end of the year, and HMRC will adjust your tax code the following year to claim back the extra tax.

    If they were valid business expenses, then you can claim tax relief on them. Broadly speaking, if those expenses were because you were going to a temporary workplace (ie spent less than 40% if your time there / less than 2 years), then you can claim. You need to keep a log with date, mileage and purpose of each journey if your employer doesnt already have that.

    As mentioned, you cannot claim for going between home and your normal workplace.
