How to clean wooden stairs, bannisters and handrails

My wooden stairs, bannisters and handrails have become dirty and sticky and I am not sure how to clean them without ruining the wood.
Please can anyone assist with how to clean them.
Thanks in advance.

Soapy water and a cloth. Don't soak the wood and it will be fine, so wring it out well before each wipe.0

If you have a child in the house, non scented baby wipes will also do.
