Futon or mattress?

Hey all, I am looking to get a new mattress for my granny who is suffering from allergy. My friend suggested to buy a futon as it's made by using natural fibers and so that it's good for such patients. Is it so? He had bought a futon for his father from surplus furniture and mattress showroom Canada last year. If anybody have any suggestions regarding this, please feel free to share . Thanks in advance

Allergy to what?
personally i find futon mattresses uncomfortable, ok for a night or two, why not look at hypo-allergenic mattress or even a hypo-allergenic cover for a mattress.0 -
I had a futon for many years when I was in my early 20's. It was very comfortable for me then but I was young
To be honest I wouldn't want to sleep regularly on one now I am older and would not think either of my grannies would be happy to either. Futon mattresses do get firmer the more they are slept on and I think there may be better options for you.
