Zooplus Cat Food

Options
Hi all,

I'm trying to work out an approximate budget for how much it would cost a month to feed a cat using one of the better brands such as those found on Zooplus.

For those using Zooplus, roughly how much wet and dry food do you get through a month per cat? And roughly how much do you therefore spend a month on wet and dry food per cat?

Thanks in advance!

We've had our two kittens since September last year, so 4 months. Just checked my Zooplus order history. So far have spent £51.78 on dry food (Porta 21). This is fed ad lib, it's left out for them to eat as and when they want, so they might go through it quicker than a cat that doesn't. We were solely feeding them this but the male is suffering a UTI so have just started on wet food (Bozita) which we are buying for £13.99 for 16 boxes/pouches. Planning to feed both wet and dry from now on. They are going through two pouches of wet a week.

  • Wet is definitely best so I'd go heavier on this and maybe dry (if you have to) for treats / snacks

One of mine eats good foods which are a mix of prices:

    Granatapet £2.05
    Ropocat £1.40
    OmmNomNom £2.15
    Macs £1.27

Each can does 8 meals - I open and freeze 6 x 50g portions (the mini tubs from the £shops are just the right size!) and use the rest over a couple of days

Taking 2 cans of each of the above (64 meals so just over a month), works out at £13.74 :D (as they're better quality, you can get away with feeding less)

(As a comparison my other cat only eats junk wet food (but still better than just dry imho) and it's twice the price!) He does at least eat good dry ....

She also have 10g x 2 of dry - I tend to use Orijen or Acana (a lot cheaper but just as good!) a bag lasts ages so minimal cost

Take a look at Zoofast - their prices are amazing! (£10 difference on a 2kg bag of food I looked at earlier)

We don't feed any dry so I can't comment on that.

Our cat is a large breed so eats quite a bit.

Raw food (west fife) works out at 32p a day, wet food days are anything from 40p-80p. Where wet is concerned we buy granatapet, catz finefood, feringa, smilla and grau. Ours doesn't like the bozita tins, we wouldn't buy the tetrapacks as like felix etc it has added sugar, being chunks in jelly you also have to feed a lot more to satisfy your cat.
